What is Candidiasis?

Candidiasis is defined as a fungal infection linked to any form of candida species. These infections can occur in various places on or inside the body from the mouth, esophagus, intestines, as well as on the skin and scalp. Conventional medicine mostly recognizes oral thrush or skin problems related to candida, but will acknowledge, at times, systemic candidiasis which can lead to candidemia which is defined as a candida infection within the bloodstream.

Functional and integrative medicine knows that chronic candida can be linked to much more than just typical oral and skin infections.

Gastrointestinal Candidiasis

Gastrointestinal candidiasis (GC), a significant, but underappreciated problem for many individuals can cause or contribute to digestive symptoms, e.g., bloating, constipation, flatulence.
